Food and Feed Safety Policy

Committed to consistently producing safe, legal and authentic food & feed products through an effective Food Safety Management System and continual improvement

At BIDCO Africa Ltd., food and feed safety is fundamental to everything we do. We are committed to producing safe, legal and authentic food and feed products that consistently meet customer, statutory and regulatory requirements while protecting consumer health, animal health and welfare, and strengthening stakeholder confidence through an effective Food Safety Management System aligned with ISO 22000:2018.

1. Food Safety Commitment

Establish, implement, maintain and continually improve an effective Food Safety Management System (FSMS) in accordance with ISO 22000:2018 across all applicable food and feed manufacturing operations, with appropriate controls for the safety of food, feed and materials used in their production.

2. Hazard Analysis and Control

Identify, assess and control food and feed safety hazards through hazard analysis, validated control measures, HACCP principles and prerequisite programmes (PRPs) to prevent contamination and cross-contamination, including biological, chemical, physical and other hazards that may adversely affect animal and/or human health, while ensuring product safety and integrity.

3. Compliance and Food Safety Culture

Comply with applicable food and animal feed safety laws, regulations, statutory requirements and customer requirements while promoting a positive food safety culture founded on leadership, communication, competence and individual accountability.

4. People, Communication and Competence

Develop the competence of our people through training, awareness and effective communication, ensuring employees, contractors and relevant interested parties understand and fulfil their food and feed safety responsibilities, including controls for hygiene, contamination prevention, traceability, handling, storage and prevention of unintended carry-over or cross-contamination.

5. Governance and Continual Improvement

Establish measurable food and feed safety objectives, monitor and evaluate FSMS performance, manage food and feed safety risks and opportunities, and continually improve the effectiveness of the FSMS through verification, validation, internal audits, management review, effective traceability, and appropriate withdrawal and recall arrangements for food and feed products.

This Policy Statement provides the framework for establishing and reviewing our food and feed safety objectives. It is communicated throughout the organisation, made available to relevant interested parties, and reviewed periodically to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy, effectiveness and alignment with our strategic direction of “Happy, Healthy Living for All.”
