Bidco Africa Achieves a Double Win: Top Performing Company in Edible Oil and No.1 Top Performing Brand in Fortification
Some milestones capture a shared promise to nourish every home. For us at Bidco Africa, this is one to cherish and build on.
At the 2025 Kenya Miller Fortification Index (KMFI) Awards, organised by the Cereal Millers Association and TechnoServe through the Millers for Nutrition initiative, Bidco’s oil category was recognised as:
We’re grateful. And we’re proud, quietly and thoughtfully, because this recognition speaks to something we’ve believed for years: when everyday foods carry the right nutrients, families thrive.
Fortification can sound technical. In simple terms, it’s the practice of adding essential micronutrients to everyday staples, like edible oil, so that more households get the nutrition they need, consistently and affordably. When you cook for your family, you’re not just making a meal; you’re nourishing futures. That’s the heart of this recognition.
The KMFI process looks at more than just a label. It combines rigorous self-assessment with independent product testing and a review of systems: how teams are trained, how inputs are sourced, how production is monitored, and how companies engage the public on nutrition. Being named top performer isn’t about a single product or a single moment. It’s about building reliable habits across the entire value chain.
This recognition is the outcome of many hands and hearts working together:
Edible oil sits at the centre of so many Kenyan meals. That makes it a powerful vehicle for better nutrition. By fortifying oil with essential micronutrients, families can fill important dietary gaps without changing their routines or stretching their budgets. One small choice, reaching for a fortified brand, multiplies into big, long-term benefits.
This is why we’ve invested in robust systems: from premix quality and supplier checks, to in-line testing and batch verification, to team training and continuous improvement. Fortification is not an add-on for us; it’s built into how we work.
Our purpose has always been simple: make Happy, Healthy Living accessible to every home. That means combining quality with affordability, taste with nutrition, and convenience with trust. Recognition like this tells us we’re on the right path, but it also reminds us that the path continues.
We know there’s more to do. Nutrition isn’t a finish line; it’s a daily commitment. As standards evolve and science advances, we’ll keep strengthening our processes, investing in people and technology, and holding ourselves to higher levels of transparency.
Every time you picked up a bottle of our cooking oil, you did more than shop; you voted for better nutrition. You’ve shaped our priorities and kept us accountable. Thank you for welcoming us into your kitchens and trusting us with your family’s health. We don’t take that trust lightly.
To our partners and colleagues across the industry: thank you for building a stronger ecosystem for fortification, one where the bar keeps rising, and where collaboration beats competition when it comes to public health.
In the months ahead, we will continue to strengthen our fortification systems end to end, investing in testing, traceability, and team capability so that quality stays consistent from plant to plate. We will also make our communication simpler and more transparent, from clearer labels to behind-the-scenes stories that show how fortification really works and why it matters for families. And we will keep showing up in the community through education drives, school and health partnerships, and easy, practical resources so households can make informed choices with confidence.
Awards are wonderful. But the real reward is knowing that a mother, a father, a grandparent can cook a favourite meal and feel confident that it’s doing a little more good. That’s the promise we carry forward, one bottle, one meal, one home at a time.
Thank you for walking this journey with us. Here’s to healthier plates, happier homes, and a Kenya where good nutrition is simply part of everyday life.
