Vimal B SHAH
Vimal Shah is the CEO of the Bidco Group, and has also been the
Chair of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance since 2013. In March 2014, he
was appointed as member of the 3GF (Global Green Growth Fund) Advisory
Board, and he is an active member of Global Business Coalition (GBC) on
HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria.
Vimal’s exceptional leadership is making
Bidco a globally respected company. A few years ago, Harvard Business
School carried out a case study on Bidco with the objective of creating a
success model for other enterprises to follow. The World Economic Forum
also awarded a Global Growth Company Status Bidco in 2014.
Kenya, Vimal holds a BSc degree in Business Administration and Finance
from United States International University. He is credited with
transforming Bidco into an East African giant respected throughout the
region. Vimal has won a host of awards due to his phenomenal work with
Bidco. In 2012, he won the All Africa Business Leaders Awards’
prestigious East African Entrepreneur of the Year. The Kenyan government
also rewarded him with the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear
(MBS) Award in 2004, and the First Class: Chief of the Order of the
Burning Spear during the 48th Jamhuri Day celebrations in December 2011.
2008, the Kenya Institute of Management awarded him CEO of the Year
with BIDCO winning Company of he year. He was rated 3rd East Africa
Business Leader of the Future and 5th Most Respected Chief Executive
Officer in East Africa in 2002. In 2001, he was named the Professional
Manager of the Year 2001 and winner for Outstanding Executive Support
for IT. Vimal was also a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur
of the Year 2011, a position he held together with his brother and
business partner, Tarun Shah.
Vimal is a much sought-after speaker on various fields, and has given talks all over the world.
Bhimji Depar Shah
Bhimji Depar Shah is the founder and chairman of the Bidco Group. Born in Mombasa, he is a fourth generation Kenyan.
lacked a college education as he started his career at the tender age
of 15. This would have been detrimental to many people’s chances of a
successful career. However, Shah made the most of every job opportunity
he got, and learned from his various experiences—including owning a
petrol station in Nyeri. He has worked in logistics, downstream oil
& gas, clothing, retail and wholesale trading, manufacturing and
even farming. All these experiences—which add up to over 65 years—have
helped shape him into one of the most capable and most ambitious
businessmen in the world.
With help from his two sons, Tarun Shah and
Vimal Shah, BD has turned Bidco from a simple business into a regional
juggernaut. Even today, Shah’s passion for Bidco is still unmatched. He
supervises numerous processes within the organization and manages the
executive recruitment processes.
Tarun B Shah
Tarun B Shah is a qualified chartered certified accountant. After completing his education in the UK, he launched his career at the age of 21.
On a green field in the early 80s, Tarun spearheaded research and development of a Thika-based manufacturing plant, which would make edible oils and fats, baking powder and soaps. His insightfulness has made him a technical and commercial specialist. He is the go-to person when it comes to insight and guidance on the expansion of Bidco’s interests.
He has also created both front-end and back-end value propositions for various East African and even global industries. He has enabled Bidco to have an impressive array of partnerships with logistics enterprises, packaging material suppliers, chemical suppliers, channel partners, hubs, supermarket chains, suppliers of equipment and more.
Tarun says, “Our values give us standards to measure ourselves by, particularly in our dealings with customers, suppliers, our own people and the wider community. Dipak Shah is a Chartered Accountant with over 19 years’ experience and is part of the core management team in Bidco.Dipak has developed outstanding skills in strategy development
& deployment, finance team leading, deal transaction structuring,
tax efficient structuring, independent director and trust services,
corporate governance consulting, financial due diligence, treasury and
forex management and detailed project management.
He is a chief business partner to the shareholders and board
members as he balances governance and risk management with key financial
parameters, evaluating and driving the right course of action and
governance. He has extensive knowledge and exposure to the entire East
African countries as well as Zambia and Mauritius.
Dipak looks after a variety of essential functions like
evaluation of new projects, managing the group’s financial structures
and procedures, statutory compliance, security/occupational health and
safety, business coordination, lean accounting implementation,
shareholder advice on group structuring and planning, legal &
commercial analysis and transactional reviews.
Diaz is a globally respected thought leader in marketing with over 27 years’
experience in brand building, turnaround and growth strategy.
2016 he was named as one of the Most Influential Global Marketing leaders by
the World Marketing Congress.

Society of Kenya. Chris has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Accounting,
Diploma in Marketing and a Master’s of Science in International Marketing (UK).
He has done executive development courses in the US and UK and is certified for
leadership and customer experience by the Boeing Academy, Seattle. He has also
attended the prestigious General Electric Business School in Crottonville, New
