In fact, we were among the earliest organizations to acquire the ISO 9001 certification.
Bidco Energy Policy Bidco Energy Policy
We are fully committed to implementing an Energy Management System. This will lead to environmental preservation, as it is the most efficient method of utilizing and conserving energy in all operations.
We can achieve this goal because :
  • We constantly review our energy targets to lower our overall energy consumption.
  • We monitor, record and evaluate our energy consumption so that we can enhance efficiency by redesigning and implementing energy efficient programs.
  • We aspire to train our employees in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
  • At Bidco, we use biomass (cashew nuts shells, macadamia shells, sawdust and coffee husks) to generate steam and power in our cogeneration plant. This lowers greenhouse gas emission. The steam and power generated through cogeneration have also lowered our electricity demand.

We are fully committed to implementing an Environmental Management System. This will lead to sustainable development and will have a positive impact on both human health and the environment.

We can achieve this goal because:
  •         We wish to prevent pollution so we can protect both human health and the environment. We can achieve this through effectively operating an environmental management system
  •         We comply with all applicable environment laws and regulations and establish our own standards where existing laws and regulations are inadequate
  •         We periodically review our environmental policy, objectives and targets so we can mitigate resource consumption and better our environmental performance
  •         We communicate our environmental policy to all employees and all our stakeholders
 Environmentally Conscious. We:
  •         Comply with all NEMA standards on Environment
  •         Self-generate power & steam using biomass
  •         Monitor & control emissions from steam boilers
  •         Channel all chemicals and water used into the Effluent treatment plant. Here, they are chemically treated to conform to the NEMA standards of Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) before being disposed into the Thika municipal sewage

We are fully committed to implementing a Food Safety Management System. This will offer edible products that are safe and wholesome and will improve our consumers’ health.
We can achieve this goal because:
  •  We aspire to ensure our products always meet and even exceed our customer’s food safety expectations
  • We implement and maintain the Food Safety Management System in accordance with ISO 22000 (BIDCO is an ISO 22000 certified Organization) where stringent controls are put in place to ensure the safety of every product
  •  We comply with the minimum standards of legal food safety and even go beyond the compliance standards when we can
  •  We periodically review our food policy; objectives and targets to ensure our products do not have any negative effect on our consumers’ health
  •  We constantly review our food safety objectives to continuously improve the Food Safety Management System
  •  We communicate our Food Safety Policy to all employees and all our stakeholders, ensuring our transparency
HIV Policy HIV Policy
With our “happy, healthy living” philosophy, we are fully committed to implementing an HIV & AIDS Policy. This will recognize the dignity, safety and well-being of our staff and will hinder any form of discrimination.
 We can achieve this goal because:
  • We do not ask for any screening as part of the pre-employment or general workplace physical examinations
  •  We make sure that staff members living with HIV/AIDS enjoy the same rights, benefits and opportunities as people living with other life threatening conditions
  •  We continuously train our peer educators about HIV/AIDS and will regularly offer this information to other employees
  •  We encourage and support all employees and their dependents’ access to VCT Services
  •  We assist any HIV-infected employee and/or their dependents to access treatment whenever needed, like ARVs and lab tests
  •  We protect the confidentiality of employees’ medical information and their HIV status This policy is communicated to all employees in simple terms

 We can achieve this goal because:
  •  Our products always meet and even exceed our customer’s food safety expectations
  •  We implement and maintain an Occupational Health and Safety Management System that reflects our desire to achieve excellence in all activities
  • We identify, control and strive to eliminate all situations likely to cause injuries or illnesses to persons or that might damage our assets
  •  We constantly measure our performance and review our policy so that it always remains relevant to our goal
  •  We encourage the full participation of all employees and stakeholders in matters concerning the polic.
  •  This policy is communicated to all employees and stakeholders

This Code of Ethics is our guide to dealing with each other including our stakeholders and our commitment that we shall live according to our ethos, principles and values. Adherence to this Code of Ethics will make our Bidco family stronger and our business a better employer and a socially responsible corporate.
