Classic Mariandazi Doughnuts

·         ½ cup warm water 

·         2½ tsp Mariandazi baking powder.

·         2 cups all-purpose flour.

·         ¼ cup sugar

·         ½ tsp salt

·         2 tsp coconut flakes

·         ½ tsp crushed

·         cardamom spice

·         ½ tsp  cinnamon

·         ½ cup milk

·         1 large egg

·         3 tsp melted butter

·         Powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar to sprinkle

·         Caramel sauce

·         Kimbo Premium oil for deep-frying

  • TIPS

·         Combine all the dry ingredients; flour, sugar, Mariandazi baking powder, salt, sugar and cardamom spice in a large bowl and whisk together.

·         Gently add all the liquid ingredients, eggs, butter and milk and knead until dough is smooth.

·         Roll out dough in to 1 inch thick. Cut with a floured doughnut cutters. 

·         Pour Kimbo Premium into a large sauce pan and pre-heat.

·         Fry until golden brown about 3-5 minutes depending on size. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper napkin.

·         Sprinkle the powdered or cinnamon sugar on to the fried Mariandazi mandazi.

·         Serve warm.

1. Set up the perfect workspace by gathering clean tools, bowls and utensils. And make sure to keep a trashcan within arm’s reach.
